Implemented by New Bridges from October 2019 to September 2020, the project brought together outstanding university students and young people from the tourist villages of Roshnik (Berat) and Pojan (Fier) to strengthen local tourism development and community participation.
The project selected and trained nine high-achieving students from Albanian universities, equipping them with skills in project development, business planning, volunteering, civic engagement, and rural development. These students then mentored local youth and supported them in identifying tourism opportunities within their communities.
Through awareness sessions, field visits, and practical learning activities, young participants explored the natural, cultural, and historical assets of their villages while increasing their understanding of active citizenship and community development.
A key outcome of the project was the development of two youth-led business concepts aimed at promoting local tourism, including a tourist guide initiative in Roshnik and a proposal for eco-friendly wooden cottages in Pojan. Promotional videos and informational materials were also produced to showcase the unique cultural and tourism values of the participating villages.
By connecting university talent with rural communities, the project fostered youth leadership, entrepreneurship, and local engagement while contributing to the preservation and promotion of Albania’s rural heritage and tourism potential.
